The basis of the creation of this book series is the desire to attract the youngest readers (from 2.5 years old), to give them the opportunity to study objects that attract them and areas (nature, animals, shapes, etc.) and help classify the surrounding things. The series includes ten small books. Two of them will help children learn shapes and numbers; five books are dedicated to the study and description of things that are always interesting to discover for the first time (farm animals, wild animals, backyards and the insects that live in them, vegetable gardens); the remaining three books are collections of short stories about the natural experience of birth (birds, butterflies, or flowers).
The text of the story recedes into the background, when tactile and visual sensations become the basis of the story and the main means of interpretation. Throughout the story and until the end, the children are accompanied by the main character. At the end of the book, all the characters who became part of the story are presented. According to the Montessori approach, children are encouraged to handle the book independently.
For example, in some cases, they can be asked to trace the contours of shapes with their fingers and mark their characteristics (round, pointed, with teeth, etc.), or use their fingers to find characters that are hiding and learn to distinguish them by their characteristic features (a lion by its tail, a rabbit by its ears, vegetables by flowers, etc.).
